Met a cat.

It began with Bob, who was coming down the fence when I happened to look outside, and so I went out to see him. He arrived on the shelf and wouldn't settle down at all because I think someone else had been there. He was having a good old sniff of everything. Eventually he laid down to lick his paw. I didn't want to hassle him so I didn't touch at all. Let him chill out for a minute. I was happy just to look at him.

And then he started licking his butt, so I looked away to give him some privacy.

My eyes fell on the ceramic bowl we leave outside for water for the cats. It was frozen over. Fuck knows how many days it was frozen over for, but I saw it then and so I filled up a bottle of water inside and then cme back out. I poked out the ice from the bowl and it was just a BLOCK. Turned it upside down to make a nice little dome. Temporary decoration for the garden.

The ice coming out of the bowl was noisy, and I saw that Bob had looked over to see what the noise was. After pouring out water into the bowl, I held up the bottle for him to sniff it, and he REALLY sniffed it.

I got up to do the bowl that's further down the garden. Same story. Block of ice frozen inside. Put new water in.

I turned round and I SAW BOB DRINKING FROM THE PATIO BOWL!!!!!!!! I HAVE NEVER SEEN HIM DRINK EVER!!!!!! Good for him. Good for him!!!!!

Then he was looking at something intently across the garden behind me. I assumed it was a bird and tried to get a look myself, but when I turned around, what I saw was ANOTHER CAT!!!!!!

Yes, apparently, my fucking tunnel vision for the second bowl. She must have been sitting off to the side watching me. And when I filled the bowl and watched Bob, she started sneaking towards the bowl to check  it out.

It was the big eyed floof ball new cat from the other day!!!!!

I don't know if she was just checking it out or trying to drink, but she got put off because Bob was STARINGGGGG at her.

She went off to hide in the bush.

When she left, Bob started going over wherever she had been and sniffing all over it.

He couldn't see her any more, I don't think, but some small gaps in the bush meant that she could see him.

I brought the water bowl to the bush in case she was thirsty, and tried to coax her out with the stick. She was kitten fierce with the stick, but didn't really come out at all.

I think Bob believed that she had gone off somewhere, so he went off into the next garden I suppose.

Meanwhile, I spent 5 minutes travelling 5 cm forward, trying to slowly crawl my way into the bush to be close enough to the new cat but not frighten her off.

Both times she's played very well and naturally with stick, but seems to have no interest in me as a person other than figuring out if I'm a threat or not. A lot of cats, when I meet them, even if they're not overly sociable .... once they realise I'm cool, they come and sniff or at least look up at me socially.

I had twigs in my hair from being so far into the bush and my ungloved hand was getting super cold, but it was worth it, because....

SHE LEANT FORWARD AND SNIFFED MY HAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE HAVE OFFICIALLY MET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She doesn't have a name yet because she hasn't displayed any specific personality traits.

Maybe big eyes or bright eyes because her eyes are massive. But any cat's eyes are massive when they just had an encounter with a smelly boy and then get approached by a human trying to crawl into the bush with them.
